Disney Plus is being released in less than a week and there are many great savings and discounts to be had on the house of mouse's new video streaming service.

But what is Disney Plus? Ahead we share how to subscribe to the streaming service, what content it will include, how much it will cost, and the UK release date.

What is Disney Plus?

Disney Plus is an online streaming service featuring over 500 films and more than 350 series (7,500 TV show episodes), plus 26 exclusive original shows and movies. 

It is launching on March 24 2020 and will include Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic, as well as over 600 episodes of The Simpsons.

Disney Plus will have a similar interface to Netflix, and is available to stream on a number of devices. 

Every Disney Plus account can simultaneously stream up to four devices and you can create up to seven user profiles for different members of your family. 

Each user has the option to pick an avatar and can choose from a selection of more than 200 Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars character profile pictures.

How much is Disney Plus? 

For a limited time, Disney Plus is sprinkling a little extra pixie dust to save you £10 on its annual subscription plan. The introductory price of £49.99 (equivalent to £4.17 per month) is only available until March 23 2020, the day before Disney Plus launches.

After this date, the Disney Plus price will revert to £5.99 per month for the monthly plan, or £59.99 for the yearly subscription.

Alternatively, O2 is treating its new and upgrading customers to a free six months of the streaming service, while its existing customers can enjoy £2 off the monthly £5.99 bill.

Popular cashback service Quidco is offering the streaming channel for just £2.19 a month – a total of £26.37 a year. The introductory pre-order offer is available until March 23.

What will Disney Plus include?

It has now been confirmed that Disney Plus content for the UK will feature a vast library of Disney movies and TV shows and over 26 exclusive Disney Plus Originals.

This will include the live action Lady and the Tramp, Togo and the Disney+ original documentary One Day at Disney. 

From the launch date (March 24), Disney Plus users will also be able to watch Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel films and TV shows, plus National Geographic programmes.

The new Star Wars series The Mandalorian will be available to watch from the launch date.

It has also been confirmed that over 600 episodes of The Simpsons will stream on Disney Plus in the UK.

The Netflix rival will also feature classic Disney movies such as Snow White, Pinocchio and Bambi, plus modern live action films including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King.

How do you get Disney Plus in the UK?

The official Disney Plus release date is confirmed to be March 24 2020.

You can subscribe to the video streaming service ahead of this date, but you can only start watching the Disney Plus content from the launch day.

If you'd like to subscribe to Disney Plus and take advantage of the pre-launch offer, simply visit DisneyPlus.com and click the 'Pre-order now' button.

When asked to create a Disney Plus account, enter your email address, read and agree to the terms and conditions and create a password.

After this step, you will need to enter your payment details and click 'Agree & Subscribe'. 

What devices and services can I stream Disney Plus? 

The Disney Plus app will be available on Android smartphones and Apple iPhones to watch on the go, plus video game consoles PS4 and Xbox One. You may also be able to get Disney Plus on the Nintendo Switch in your web browser. 

If you want to access Disney Plus straight through your smart TV, you'll need to check with your manufacturer about dedicated Disney Plus functionality. If your TV isn't going to include this feature, you could always invest in a Chromecast or similar Amazon Fire TV device.

Samsung smart TVs from 2016 onwards and operating with the Tizen OS have a dedicated Disney Plus app ready to launch, so you can start streaming Baby Yoda straight away, and other manufacturers will be offering similar apps. Read more information about Disney Plus compatible Smart TVs here.

Sky has also struck a deal with Disney which means that Sky Q customers in the UK and Ireland will be able to pay for Disney Plus access on March 24 2020. In the coming months, it will also be available on Sky's NOW TV
