Transitioning from an old standard to a new standard can be hard, and it is one of the reasons why many companies tend to hold off as long as they can because inconveniencing customers is one way to lose them. Take for example the backlash that Apple faced when removing the 3.5mm headphone jack from its iPhones, resulting in their competition using it against them as a marketing ploy.

That being said, the same can also be said for USB Type-C, where some handset makers like Samsung have made the transition. Samsung used to bundle microUSB to Type-C adapters with their handsets, but now a report from SamMobile suggests that the company might have stopped doing that.

The report claims that with their copies of the Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2018), it seems that both the version bought in India and the Netherlands did not come with the adapter. If this had been an oversight in terms of packaging, we could see that happening, but two phones in two different countries is feeling more than just mere coincidence.

It is possible that given how many phones these days are already using Type-C that Samsung might have felt that the landscape is such that microUSB adapters are no longer necessary. It could also be a market thing where certain markets could still come with it bundled, but in any case if Samsung had indeed stopped bundling the adapter, would it be a big deal for you?
