Tropical storm bearing down on Hawaii

The storm is dropping torrential rains, flooding low-lying areas, and causing landslides.

Some parts of the big island received 20 inches of rain in just 24 hours.

Even without a direct hit, forecasters warn lane could cause major damage.

Sessions pushes back against Trump jabs

President Trump is picking a fight with his Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

In an interview the president complained that Sessions 'never took control' of the Justice Department.

Sessions fired back saying his department advances the rule of law and 'will not be improperly influenced by political considerations.'

The ongoing battle started when Sessions recused himself in the federal Russia investigation.

Students March for Gun Reform

Students began a 3 day march in Massachusetts advocating for stricter gun control.

They kicked it off in Worcester and are headed to the Smith and Wesson headquarters in Springfield.

Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg is also particpating.

Samsung Note 9 goes on sale with bigger battery and screen size

Samsung's newest smartphone hits store shelves today.

The Galaxy Note 9 features a bigger 6.4 inch screen, an all-day battery life, and a bluetooth stylus to control the phone remotely.

The 128 gigabyte model sells for about 1,000 and the 512 gigabyte model will run you more than 1,200 dollars.

National Waffle Day

It's Friday and this particular kickoff to the weekend is extra sweet because it's also National Waffle Day.

August 24th is the anniversary of the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron. It was issued in 1869.

People around the world eat different kinds of waffles.

To meet the definition, waffles just need leavened dough or batter cooked between two hot plates.
